“I am born in Germany and studied business but I fell in love with South Africa and I have been living there since 2009. My boyfriend and I own a safari company and we run tours throughout the country. I love nature and wildlife and South Africa is a beautiful country. But the government still has to overcome some major problems like crime, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. Also, in my eyes one of the most important things is that people are educated and have access to information and can judge for themselves. It is like when I first wrote to Dennis and heard about his project I realised how little I know about stem cell therapy, yet it can help so many people in the future. My dad died of cancer, my mother of a heart failure. That’s why I hope that we can help people that are suffering from diseases in the future.”

“Ich bin in Deutschland geboren und habe Betriebswirtschaft studiert. Während des Studiums habe ich mich aber in Südafrika verliebt und bin in 2009 endgültig ausgewandert. Mein Freund und ich sind Manager eines Safariunternehmens und bieten Touren durch das ganze Land an. Ich liebe die Natur und die wilden Tiere und das Land ist einfach wunderschön. Gleichzeitig steht die Regierung hier noch vor vielen großen Problemen wie zum Beispiel Kriminalität, Arbeitslosigkeit und HIV/AIDS. In meinen Augen ist es außerdem sehr wichtig, dass die Menschen hier ausgebildet sind und Zugang zu Informationen haben und Entscheidungen für sich selber fällen können. Als ich zum Beispiel das erste Mal von Dennis und seinem Projekt gehört habe ist mir klar geworden, wie wenig ich über Stammzellenforschung weiß und dabei könnte es so vielen Menschen in der Zukunft helfen. Mein Vater ist an Krebs und meine Mutter an einem Herzfehler gestorben. Ich hoffe deswegen, dass wir den Menschen mit schlimmen Krankheiten in der Zukunft helfen können.“
